michael

Michael Walker was born in São Paulo, Brazil. He studied at the École Supérieure d’Art Visuel in Geneva, Switzerland.

In 1979, he entered the Faculty of Fine Arts (Federal University of Bahia), Brazil where he taught drawing and printmaking.

His travels have taken him to various Latin American countries and the USA where he studied printmaking in University of New Mexico and California College of Arts and Crafts (1980-1981).

He took his PhD in the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Barcelona, Spain (1995) and an investigation in digital media/printmaking at the Polytecnic University of Valencia, Spain.

He is presently developing works in the printmaking field using digital technology and mixed media.

1991-95 Doctorate in Fine Arts
Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Barcelona, Spain. Doctoral dissertation entitled, "La Influencia de la Ciencia y de la Técnica en el Arte de la Litografía 1796-1841" (Apto cum Laude).
The research was funded by a grant from the Brazilian Ministry of Education (CAPES, Fundação Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nivel Superior)

 

1981-82 Specialization in Printmaking
University of New Mexico, New Mexico, USA and California College of Arts and Crafts, Oakland - California, USA.
The specialization was funded by a FULLBRIGHT grant.
